The subject of my creation is an elephant that is surrounded by different lines going in different directions which made the background more interesting. The work was made using clay that was painted which was then scratched off resulting in the design and then it was baked revealing the black design. I chose to create this specific artwork because I have learned that I am good at making elephants and I decided that an elephant was what I wanted to put in the center.
I used informal balance to make sure that my scaffito wasn't a perfect mirror image. My project evolved from a block of clay to being shaped and painted to where it is today.
The meaning behind my artwork is to add onto the collection that I have made and to create almost a series of elephants that are all on and made using different materials. My project relates to my life because the I have ridden an elephants before and they are popular in India. I think my artwork could be stronger if I had a better plan and created this on a flat tile and not on a bowl like the one I made.
