Duplication

The setting while abstract looks similar to a river or an ocean that has islands in the water.

My artwork was made with typical graphite pencil and the softer graphite pencil but I also used some markers when it came to areas like the center that I thought looked very similar to a river or even an ocean bed.

I didn’t really chose to make this specific duplicate because it was a square that was assigned to me and the expectation was that I made it.

Personally I am not really sure what I was doing in the sense of using composition and design since I was trying to a make a duplicate of the image that was provided. At first I wasn’t going to use color I was only going to be using only a standard pencil but then I decided to use the softer graphite pencil hoping to be able to make the black even darker. Then I decided to use color to brighten up a part of the drawing and really make it stand out compared to having an all grey, white and black drawing.

Honestly there isn’t really a story behind making a duplicate drawing of just one part of an image. There would be more meaning if I was duplicating a complete drawing. My project doesn’t relate to my life because I wasn’t the original artist I am simply just someone trying to duplicate a sliver of their art work. I might have made the whole thing out of color and not just one specific part.
