Color Theory

For this project, we had to create an art piece using all of the colors on the color wheel, including three tints and shades. I choose to paint a skull with horns in a galaxy setting using acrylic paints. At first I wasn't going to put a back round for the painting, but I like space, so I decided to paint a galaxy in the back round.

I did a skull with horns, because I had the idea floating around in my head for a while, and I wanted to use it for this project. I'm proudest of the horns, because I really like the detail I put into them, like the ridges and the shading. I struggled a lot with the eyes. They were small, and I had to fit a lot of color into one eye. Also, the stars took a lot of time and patience. If I were to do this again, I would make the eyes bigger, so I could make more noticeable details.

For this assignment, we had to create a value scale using primary and secondary colors using tints and shades. I like the purple, because I think it flows nicely from each tint and shade. If I had to do this again, I would re do the shades on the red scale, because the first shade is too dark, and the jump from the 4th to 5th block is too big.
