Sustained Investigation #6

I really wanted to focus on detail for this piece, because I feel like all my previous pieces have been lacking detail, and not really reflecting what I'm capable of as an artist. I really like how this piece turned out, especially the shading and detail on the face and hair. I'm also pretty proud of how the fish came out. This was my first time using colored pencils to create a finished work and it went surprisingly well. The only thing I would fix is the background. The blending isn't as smooth as I would like it to be. I would also make it more busy- maybe by adding a school of fish in the distance and/or more fish in different colors in the foreground. I would also add more layers of color to the hair— there are still some places where the toned paper is showing through.
