Red and Blue

9'' x 12''

Chalk pastel

For this piece, I played around with lighting and colors. I wanted it to look like there was a red and blue light shining on the subject's face. I also added the shards at the edges of the head, the tip of the ear and shoulders for an abstract effect. Overall I like how this turned out, but the proportions of the face are a little off. I would also add more value to the face and maybe a put a little purple between the red and blue to make a smoother transition from one color to the other. I also didn't want to leave the background black, so I chose a black to white gradient. I didn't want to add more color and overload the piece, or distract from the subject's colors.
