For this project, I was really excited to be focusing on the detail aspect of drawing the duck. I chose to use colored pencil in order to fit the most detail I could into the duck. I also used a magnifying glass in order to see as much detail in the picture I could. I like how the duck turned out, especially the head and the beak. I think I fit a lot of detail in there. I was initially going to draw two ducks, but the first duck took a long time, and I knew I wouldn't finish the assignment on time if I did two ducks. For the background I used a layer of watercolor, then went back over it with the colored pencils. I don't mind the grass stalks in the very background, but I don't like the water or the lily pads. I should have used paints for that, because I feel like I scored the colored pencils enough on the duck to be able to use acrylics and have it not look weird compared to the duck. I think I could painted the background a lot better and with more detail with paint instead of colored pencils.
