Multiple Pinch Project

I created a stack of fruit for my multiple pinch pot project. Each of the three fruits were made with two pinch pots to meet the six pot requirement, then the turned over basket was an extra seventh. this sculpture was created using the pinch technique. The orange and basket were easiest because of their basic spherical and dome shape. for the apple's top, I shaped it to look like an apple's top while pinching it. For the bottom pot I added on extra clay to shape the "feet" of the apple. The banana was most challenging because I had to be careful not to rip the clay while trying to create a longer pot with the correct shape. I added texture to the orange using a scratching tool to poke holes everywhere. While being bisque fired, an accident happened and my sculpture was a victim to another project's explosion. Upon being knocked over, the fruit broke apart from each other. Because it now had to be glued back together, I could no longer glaze this project. I instead used acrylic paints to add color to my creation. I ended up being happy with the way it turned out because the paint gave the fruit a more realistic look. When I decided I wanted to create a small sculpture that could brighten up a part of my house I immediately decided on my kitchen because that is where my family and I spend the most time together. Because of this I wanted to do something food or cooking related, and fruit is a big love in my life so it seemed like the best option to me. I am happiest with the life-like look of the fruit, especially the apple because I spent the most time on it making sure it was a correct and believable shape. Something I would do differently is gluing the pieces together first and then painting it. Because I painted it first and couldn't paint where it was going to be glued, I ended up having viable unpainted spots. I would also think about using a different technique for making the basket look like weaved wicker because I attempted but did not achieve that aspect.
