repetition

Artist statement

For this project we had to take photos of things that were in a group or repetition. I was walking around the school one day and I was getting pretty good grouping and repetition photo but they were things that other people would be doing and I wanted to create a photo that was different and looked different than others in the class. While I was walking around the school trying to get good photos I saw this American flag paper chain thing, by the library and I thought that it would be really cool to develop that. I ended up developing that photo and in the first one you can kind of see the different shades of colors, but it just looks like paper chains not the American flag. The second photo I developed I modified it a lil bit. I used the spray bottle filled with developer and sprayed part of the photo then I dipped a paint brush in developer and tried to write USA on the photo but it didn't come out the greatest. Then to the right of the photo i just stuck that in the developer bin to make there be different shades and have all different parts to look at. Overall I didn't really like any of the ones I developed and the second one that I developed because its really dark and I over exposed it and maybe over developed a little bit. I will most likely try and modify another print to see if it turns out better. I was hoping for a different turnout with this one but it go the way I wanted it to. This project helped me realize that not everything can go the way I want it to and i need to learn and accept that.
