Pure Contour

.) The subject of my creation is a shoe, and then the zoomed in details of that same shoe.

.) I created this work by propping a sandal up on the table and looking at it from 3 different perspectives. From above, the side, and from the front. At first I used a light 2H pencil to sketch the lines, and then I went into detail with a 4B pencil.

.) We chose to create this piece of artwork because we wanted to use our skills of enlarging objects and shading to make the lines that were closest to us pop out.

.) I used the technique of sharp focus to really look at the lines of the shoe that popped out further, and then I used a darker pencil to enhance those lines, so it actually looked like there was a shoe sitting on the table.

.) From the beginning my artwork started out as a fuzzy lines sketch that didn't have much dimension to it. Now that it has evolved it looks like a real live sandal.

.) The meaning behind the artwork is that there is more to everyday objects than just the simple lines. By using darker lines you can make certain things pop out and have more dimension, like they have in real life.

.) I think in the future I would maybe try making sure that the size of my shoes are all the same. I definitely need to work on my enlarging skills.
