Abstract Shoe

.) The subject of my creation was my sandal, it was then zoomed in, and the negative space was filled in with abstract patterns.

.) After I had zoomed in on my sandal I used a 2H pencil to sketch the lines, and then a sharpie to darken the lines. Once I was done this I created patterns in the negative space, and colored those in with acrylic paints.

.) We chose to create this artwork because it was to help us develop our prior skills and focus on what basic lines and shapes of an object can be used and created to make something completely different.

.) I used the technique of burnishing to create bold thick colors. I went over the colors more than once so none of the colors were pale or see through.

.) At first my project started as a drawing of a shoe that had darker details. Now, my project is an abstract drawing of patterns and shapes that I thought would be catchy to the eye.

.) The meaning behind this piece of artwork is that you can take something from something that once seemed not important, and create it into something with bigger meaning. I like the fact that if someone looked at this, they wouldn't even be able to tell that this once derived from a shoe.

.) I think next time if I were to clean up this artwork I would maybe use a paint pen and a ruler to make my lines crisper and cleaner.
