Designs and Space

1.) The subject's of my creations are dinosaurs, leaves, and my hand. We were focusing on positive and negative space, so when focusing on only the negative space we would pay close attention to the outline of the objects and draw that.

2.) For each drawing I started out by using light strokes with my pencil to sketch out the basic shapes of each object and to get the proportions correct, and then with my summative I went back and used I fine point sharpie to get all the little ridges along the leaves to get extra detail. Then I painted the background (or drew a design) black so the positive space and negative space would contrast, and then filled in the dots with colors of fall.

4.) I used the technique of fine point focusing so I could really focus on the outline of the shapes put together instead of just focusing on all elements of the leaves.

3.) We chose to create this specific piece of artwork because It is helping us develop skills that we can use later on. It's important to be able to get the detail of the outline and proportion of the object right because it will help in the overall neatness and detail of the finished product.

5.) My project evolved from the beginning because at first we were just trying to get the basic shape of the negative space, but then we went over to get all of the little details.

6.) I would say that the meaning behind my artwork is that even the space that is behind the main subject of your artwork has meaning, and that space will only be as beautiful and detailed as the amount of work you put into both spaces.

7.) If I could do something different I probably would use a different material for the colors of fall in my circles. After a while the oil pastels didn't blend so well, so I would choose something that blended a lot better so I could get the mixed colors of the leaves.
