Candy Still Life

.) The subject of my creation is a still life image of 2 lollipops, and the front and back of a skittle.

.) In order to create this piece I used charcoal, and ink. Along with white charcoal/pastel to add a hint of shine to the candies.

.) I used blending, hatching, and shading to complete this project. I used blending on the shadows of the candies so they wouldn't be really harsh and dark in one spot, hatching on the skittle to shows values in the skittle, and blending to make sure there were no scratchy lines from the charcoal.

.) I chose to showcase the use of ink in my artwork to create different shades, I think a majority of the background was created with ink ad water.

.) At the begging my artwork just started as a quick sketch of candies that didn't have much depth to it, but now I used shading to add shadows and create a more 3-dimensional looking shapes.

.) The meaning behind this artwork was to show us that there are many different ways to create objects, and you can't just create really harsh dark outlines and have their shadows be realistic looking.

.) If I were to revise my artwork I think I would work on the shadows of the objects. I don't think I did as well as I had hoped on these, also I would probably work more on the skittles to create a better shade to them.
