Independent Project

The subject of my image is the sunrise during my camping trip to Bar Harbor. This image was made using my knowledge of blending pastel colors. The materials I used included: Pastels, tortillians, a reference image and my own picture along with grid lines to reference from. I chose to create this image because it was the project I had the most fun doing. I really enjoyed blending colors and I'm glad I did it for my plst art project. In my image I used the rule of thirds to make sure that my image wasn't a boring centered image as well as contrast between the lights of the sky and the dark of the morning earth. my project first evolved from a reference image of the sky to a pastel color study where I individually mixed different pastel colors to make a blended color in each square. The meaning behind this image for me is the amount of hardwork I put in to the project. It takes close attention to the image to decide which colors should go into each square. My project relates to my life because it refelects one of the most memorable trips I have had with my family. If I could revise my image I would possible go back and erase the pencil lines. But then again, I really like how the lines look and how they divide each individual square.
