Health and Physical Education (H & PE) involves you in a wide range of practical and theoretical activities that help you develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. H & PE promotes the development of physical fitness and sporting skills, healthy attitudes and health promoting behaviour.
You will focus on these areas:
• The Health of Individuals & Populations
• Movement & Physical Activity
These include all those things that develop and maintain a person’s physical, social and mental well- being. Through this subject you may also develop an interest in careers ranging from health & welfare to human movement & physical education.
NOTE: Must select one of the following to do as the ‘core’ subject.
This course will allow students to get an insight into VCE Health and Human Development.
Students examine health and wellbeing as dynamic concepts, subject to a complex interplay of biological, sociocultural and environmental factors, many of which can be modified by health care and other interventions. They look at the Australian healthcare system and research what is being done to address inequalities in health and development outcomes. Students investigate the roles and sources of major nutrients and the use of food selection models and other tools to promote healthy eating. They look at the health and wellbeing consequences of dietary imbalance, especially for youth, and consider the social, cultural and political factors that influence the food practices of and food choices made by youth.

This course will allow students to develop skills in coaching and umpiring in a variety of sports. They will learn and participate in the different roles undertaken during a tournament. They will understand the different types of coaching and take on different coaching roles.
Students will assist with interschool sports throughout the year including umpiring, assisting with team selection and equipment set up.
Students are required in PE uniform for all prac sessions.
Are you interested in how your body creates energy to exercise? Have you ever wondered who helps athletes improve their technique and performance? Year 10 Sports Science focuses on what happens in our body when we exercise and how athletes can improve their performances.
The following topics will be studied:
• Musculoskeletal system
• Cardio-respiratory system
• Energy systems
• Biomechanics
• Fitness training program
The subject is 2 periods of theory and 2 periods of practical. PE uniform must be worn in practical classes and practical lessons will be linked to the theory components.
This unit is a pathway into VCE Physical Education.
Year 10 Female Fitness (Elective)
This elective provides Year 10 female students exclusive access to gym facilities during class time. The focus will be on developing strength, endurance, flexibility, and confidence through structured gym sessions, workshops, and peer support.

2. Functional Fitness and Cardio Conditioning
3. Nutrition and Recovery Basics
4. Goal-Setting and Mental Resilience Educational
