Course Description:
This is an exciting course for students to access the latest hi tech industry equipment. This course is focused on students who wish to develop skills and knowledge in running a hitech Engineering business. Students will access CNC Laser Cutting equipment to design and manufacture products to sell to clients. As part of the business enterprise, students will plan, design, manufacture and supply products with students collectively retaining a share of the profits from the Enterprise. Students will need to be design orientated and able to use computer software to operate the hitech CNC Laser Cutter. Students will complete units in Certificate II in Engineering as part of this program. 

Who Should Apply?
Students interested in a career pathway in Engineering, Welding, Metal Design and Construction. 

Possible Job Outcomes:
There is a shortage of Engineers, particularly in our immediate area and state-wide. There is an excellent career pathway for qualified Engineers. 

Program Length:
This course will be conducted over 2 years. 

Does this subject contribute to my Yr 12 ATAR?
Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for VCE VET Engineering Studies must undertake Scored Assessment for the purpose of achieving a Study Score. This Study Score can contribute directly to the primary four, or as a fifth or sixth study.

Year 1 (Unit 1 & 2):

VU23475                             Safely  use hand tools and hand held power tools for general engineering applications

Year 2 (Unit 3 & 4):
MEMPE006A Undertake a basic engineering project
VU23480 Perform intermediate engineering  computations
VU22337         Perform basic welding and thermal cutting  processes to fabricate engineering structures

Course Description:
This is the second year of a two-year course in Engineering. Unit 3 & 4 focuses on more involved Engineering work based on design and manufacture of engineering equipment. Students will be expected to use lathes and welding and cutting equipment, to demonstrate a strong competency in engineering practices. 

Uniform:
Students MUST wear black school work wear pants, black safety boots and school trade shirts. 

PLEASE NOTE: Students will not be able to enter the room if they are not wearing correct uniform. This is an industry Occupational Health and Safety requirement. 

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

Students will  need to have the following equipment to participate in the subject. Students will be excluded from class if they don't come in the required Personal Protective Equipment.

A Laptop capable of running  Microsoft 365 (Microsoft 365 is available to all Victorian Government School Students from the Department of Education)
