This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use basic skills and knowledge for work in skilled assistant or skilled assistant operator roles in the screen, media and entertainment industries.
The job roles that relate to this qualification may include editing assistant, assistant content creator, assistant sound technician, assistant audiovisual technician, assistant radio producer, podcast producer, community radio producer, community radio presenter, junior animator, camera assistant and technical production assistant.
The Certificate III in Screen and Media is offered as a two-year qualification.
Students selecting the subject for the first time at Year 11 will progress to the second year of the course at Year 12. It is therefore a two-year commitment.
Students can then progress to higher-level qualifications (such as the Diploma of Screen and Media) at TAFE, or University courses in Screen and Media.

Across the two years of the course students will learn about the principles and elements of design, Work Health and Safety, applying critical thinking skills, amending and editing digital images, creating web pages, and creating 2D digital animations and 3D digital models.
Software that will be used includes Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Animate.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Students will need to have the following equipment to participate in the subject. Failure to bring the required equipment will not allow students to participate in the course fully and put them at risk of not being able to meet the outcomes.
Laptop Computer:
A Laptop capable of running Microsoft 365 (Microsoft 365 is available to all Victorian Government School Students from the Department of Education)
