(MSF20516 - VET CERTIFICATE II in Furniture Making Pathways)
Course Description:
This program option comprises a minimum of 12 units of competency over 2 year period: three compulsory units and a minimum of five elective units at the Units 1 and 2 level (Year 1) and four compulsory units at the Units 3 and 4 level (Year 2).
This will provide you with an opportunity to gain beginning level knowledge and skills required to manufacture free-standing furniture or built-in cabinets, and/or assist in the installation of on-site furniture or cabinets.
The completion of this course in a senior secondary environment has many benefits including:
• assisting you to decide if you are suited to a trade career;
• being the preferred pathway of many building and construction sector employers when employing
apprentices to complete Certificate III qualifications, and
• providing useful skills for future domestic/D.I.Y building and construction projects.
Year 2 (Units 3 & 4)
MSFFM2001 Use furniture making hand/power tools 2022 D GBR NYC
MSFFM2002 Assemble furnishing components
MSFFP2001 Undertake basic furniture making
MSFGN2001 Make measurements and calculations
Assessment:
A range of assessment methods are used throughout the course including workbook activities, written tests and practical skill demonstrations. You will receive detailed assessment information on commencement of each unit.
Pathways:
This course has been designed to articulate with a number of further TAFE/University courses.
Uniform:
Students will be supplied with a Fluro Polo Top. Students MUST wear Black work wear pants and Black safety boots. PLEASE NOTE: students will not be able to enter
the rooms, if correct uniform is not worn. This is an industry Occupational Health and Safety requirement.
