Year 1 (Unit 1 & 2):
Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation provides students with the skills and knowledge to work in the sport, aquatics and recreation industry. It focuses on the areas of providing customer service, coaching, risk management and first aid.
Possible job outcomes for a student with this qualification may include:
Activity operations officer, Recreation Leader, Recreation Officer, Sport and recreation attendant, Lifeguard, Swimming Teacher, Leisure services officer, Community activities officer.

9. HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
10. SIRXCEG002 Assist with customer difficulties

Year 2 (Unit 3 & 4):
Units 3 and 4 continue to develop skills and knowledge in the Sport, Aquatics and Recreation industry through both theoretical and practical components.
Competencies covered in Year 2 include:
1. SISSSCO001 Conduct sport coaching with foundation level participants
2. BSBWHS308 Participate in WHS hazard identification risk assessment and risk control
3. SISXRES002 Educate user groups
4. SISXPLD004 Facilitate groups
5. SISXCAI004 Plan and conduct programs
There will be a range of excursions related to the competencies throughout both years. Additional costs may be associated with these excursions. Where possible CSEF funds will be allocated to cover the cost.
Assessment: You will be required to complete a range of assessment tasks including:
• Coaching
• Presentations
• Tests
• Assignments
• End of year examinations
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Students will need to have the following equipment to participate in the subject. Failure to bring the required equipment will not allow students to participate in the course fully and put them at risk of not being able to meet the outcomes.

A Laptop capable of running Microsoft 365 (Microsoft 365 is available to all Victorian Government School Students from the Department of Education)
