Link to the review packet. Listed below are the answers to the problems and in some cases video solutions. Most of the videos reference an old review packet with different numbering so the actual video might seem to have a different problem number but in general it is the same.
Pre-AP in particular may want to revisit my video How do I find the Apothem?.
Pre-AP students should be prepared to find the apothem of a regular hexagon on the exam and provide an answer in exact form without using trigonometry or a calculator using reasonable values. You will need to use one of the special right triangles.
Problem 1 on the Review. It was problem 4 on a prior year review packet.
Problem 2 - Faces, Edges and Vertices
Problem 3: Answer is 26521.8 cubic centimeters. Note you will not have to square decimals on your test.
Problem 4 & 11 - Ramp and Sam's drink. Notice the numbers are a little different in the old ramp review problem but the ideas are just the same.
#4 Answers: Hypotenuse = 41 ft, lateral 900 square feet, total surface are is 1260 square feet and 140 square yards. Volume is 1800 cubic feet.
#11 Answers: 37 cubic inches
Problem 5 - total volume = 1800 square feet and about 66.7 cubic yards.
Problem 6 - See video below which uses 9 cm instead of 12 cm. Answer to your version with 12 cm side is 480 cubic cm.
Problem 7 - Total Surface Area is 241.98 square meters. Volume is 242.73 cubic meters.
Problem 8 - 324 pi square meters for total surface area. Volume is 972 pi.
Problem 9 - Volume is 4320 cubic units. Total Surface Area is 1800 square units.
Problem 10 - Ignore the 6 in the picture. Just use the values listed. Total Surface area is 224 pi. Volume is 392 pi.
Problem 11- Solution is in the video for problem 4. Answer is 37 cubic inches.
Problem 12: Same as #11 on the Composite Volume and Surface Area Worksheet. Answer: S = 446.0 square centimeters. V = 829.4 cubic centimeters.
Problem 13: multiply by 9, multiply by 27
Problem 14: multiply by 4, multiply by 8
Problem 15: See end of video with problem 17. Answer is multiply by 8.
Problem 16: Multiply by 12.
Problem 17 - Tennis Ball Problem & Problem 15 - Fish Tank
#17 Answers: 162 pi and 108 pi
Problem 18 - F, T, T, F (Watch my spherical geometry video if confused.)
Problem 19 - Volume of Regular Triangular Pyramid. Good practice for Pre-AP. Note I could have used a special right triangle instead of Pythagorean theorem.
Total Surface area is 90 + 9squareroot3 or about 105.6 square units.
Using pythagorean theorem height is square root of 73. Total Volume is about 44.4 cubic units.
