ABSTRACT
From rolling to crawling to walking to running, gross motor skills are a huge part of our learning development. Every young child needs ample opportunity to develop their gross motor skills. This includes their climbing, running, jumping and more. Some children do not get to practice these skills as much as it is needed for appropriate development. A designated gross motor room is helpful for all children from infancy and up as they explore what they can do physically. This grant would allow us to purchase floor mats, to crawl and run on, equipment that encourages moving the whole body, and climbers to learn how to use the stairs. No matter the weather, this would allow the children to always be able to run and jump and practice their abilities. This grant will also be used to purchase outdoor gross motor equipment, such as balls, jump ropes, and bicycles. The safe, appealing, and appropriately challenging equipment will encourage the children to frequently engage in physical activities.
