ABSTRACT
During the early years of every child’s life, they need exposure and experiences. There are different developmental domains implemented in the curriculum for each student. A component of that learning includes ways to build their gross motor skills. Across the nation, not all early childhood centers have a designated area, other than the outdoors, for gross motor activities to take place. Additionally, the weather in Michigan varies day by day. If there is any precipitation, heat advisories, or frigid weather on the forecast, children are often kept inside. Having a designated gross motor room at Brilliant Minds Preschool would be highly beneficial. Gross motor movement and skills development are essential for all children, simply to have a functioning life. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, children need to be physically active. This grant would provide that space to do this, as well as provide the materials to ensure children can build upon these skills safely.
