Literature for everyone grant proposal

Major: Early Childhood Studies

Hometown: Sterling Heights, MI

ABSTRACT

Having families involved in their children’s learning, helps reinforce concepts learned at school and will allow children to broaden their understanding. The Learning Experience early educators are finding ways to incorporate more families in the learning process. This grant will help over 30 families become more active in their children’s learning process. These families will be given tools such as books and reading materials to engage in similar routines at home. Families will be able to receive these materials from The Learning Experience along with reading strategies to perform at home. This will allow children to improve their skills in areas such as language and literacy. A continuous effort in improving literacy skills also improves cognitive development. It is vital that children are constantly challenging themselves to help increase their abilities. This literacy grant will not only give families a chance to be more involved in their children’s learning and development, but it will ensure that children are given the opportunity and tools to continue their education outside of the classroom regardless of their economic status.
