Final evaluation

Just like the design, it is the discussion and evidence you provide in your final evaluation that largely determines your final grade. 

Look at the two columns to the right to see what you need to do. 

Level Two

Meeting the problem / need / opportunity

1. Explain how successfully your finished product meets your original purpose and requirements. 

2. Explain how well it functions as intended. 

(For Achieved)

Talk about what was successful, what wasn't so successful, and what you would change if you could. 

Project Management Processes

1. Explain how your project management tools and techniques helped you plan the development of a successful outcome (Achieved)

2. Explain how you effectively used project management and version control tools to manage the development of you outcome (Merit)

Make sure you back this explanation up with examples of some of the tools and techniques you used - the use of screenshots can help show this.

Note, for Merit, you must show how you used version control tools and techniques too. You also  need to show how your tools and techniques were effective in helping you achieve your outcome. 

Using Relevant Conventions

1. Show how you have used appropriate conventions for the media type (Achieved).

2. Add further details to explain how these improved the quality of the outcome (Merit)

Labelled screenshots are a great way to do this. 

For example: I used consistent fonts, sizes, and spaces. This made the outcome look more professional and readable.

Tools and Techniques

1. Show how some of the tools and techniques you used were useful for developing a successful outcome (Achieved)

You could add images that show the tool / technique used for different parts of your outcome worked well and was appropriate. 

2. Show how you used efficient tools and techniques in the development of your outcome (Excellence)

Iterative Improvement (Optional)

1. Show evidence of iterative improvements you made to components throughout the whole design and development process (Excellence)

Show examples of a couple of the components in your outcome and how they developed and improved from your first ideas to your final outcome.

Briefly explain how they improved bit by bit

Design and Development (Optional)

1. Discuss how the information you gained through the planning, testing, and trialling of the components of your outcome helped you develop a high quality outcome (For Excellence)

For example, you could discuss things like how:

• Agile planning allowed you to experiment with the development of different components

• Several options were explored and the most appropriate was chosen and developed further

• Regular testing during the sprints ensured problems were addressed early and effectively

• Focussing on one component at a time led to each being developed to a high standard

You need to back this discussion up with evidence. 

You also need to justify why you think it's a high quality outcome.

UX Principles

1. Give examples of how you used UX principles that were relevant to your outcome (Achieved).

2. Add further details to explain how these improved the quality of the outcome (Merit)

UX principles are DIFFERENT from your UX methods you used in your design stage. 

The most important UX principles we considered are FUCA (Functionality, Usability, Content, and Aesthetics). Remember, the END USER must be at the centre of all of these. 

Accessibility is also a really important consideration. 

Provide examples for how you used at least 2 of these. For Merit show how using these made the final outcome better. 

Tools and Techniques

1. Show how some of the tools and techniques you used were appropriate for developing a successful outcome (Achieved)

You could add images that show the tool / technique used for different parts of your outcome worked well and was appropriate.
