Week 9
October 13-17
October 13-17
Hello B1 Families,
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Early Dismissal: Just a friendly reminder that this entire week students will be dismissed at noon due to parent teacher conferences.
Halloween Celebration: We will be having a Halloween party in class on Friday, October 31st.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: This week, we will continue with Module 2. Students will be working on lessons 2-5. Lessons 2 through 5 will focus on measurement. Students will be estimating and measuring mass in grams, kilograms, liters and milliliters. They will relate this concept to that of place value by using a number line and unit comparisons. Students should still be practicing multiplication daily at home. As a reminder, students take timed multiplication tests every Friday.
Reader's Workshop: We will be continuing in our Benchmark Unit 2 books, called Ways Characters Shape Stories. Our focus will be answering the essential question: How do our actions influence our lives? Students will continue participating in our Reader's Workshop centers which include reading to self, listening to reading, word work and grammar, responding to reading questions and using technology to build reading strategies. Students take their Benchmark test every Friday.
Writer's Workshop: This week students will write an acrostic poem about October. Students will be using adjectives that remind them of fall when writing their poem.
