Week 18
January 7-10
January 7-10
Hello B1 Families,
Welcome back! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great winter break. Thank you for the very kind and thoughtful holiday gifts! I am so excited to be back in our classroom with all our wonderful students. Let's make 2025 an amazing year together!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Smart Watches: As a friendly reminder, smart watches are not allowed in the classroom and should not be worn at school. If a student is wearing a smart watch they will be asked to take it off and put it in their backpack. This is a district wide rule.
New House Shirts: ALL STUDENTS will receive one new house shirt this year. After that, any additional shirts will need to be purchased from the school. Please fill out this short form by Friday, 1/10 so your student receives the correct shirt size. These shirts are meant to last a couple years, so we recommend sizing up. Thank you! 3rd Grade Behavior: This week, students will review classroom and school-wide expectations and procedures. While the transition from Winter Break back to school can be a challenge, I know our amazing 3rd graders can do it!
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: Please make sure your child is practicing multiplication facts for at least 10 minutes a night. This week we will continue our timed multiplication tests. Students will continue to move their way up to x12, working at their own pace. They will continue to track their progress with the goal of finishing 3rd grade with their multiplication facts memorized. We will also pick up where we left off in 2024 with lessons 7-9 in the book.
Reader's Workshop: This week, we will be getting back into our Reader's Workshop practices. As a refresher, these stations include small groups with the teacher, reading to self, responding to reading, writing, word work and technology. We will start a new Benchmark book this week called Comparing Points of View.
Writer's Workshop: Students will be writing about their Winter Break as well as their New Year's goals.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E/dance every week.
