ANNOUNCEMENTS

Volunteer Survey: If you would like to volunteer for year-long jobs in our classroom this year, please take this short survey. Click on the link to complete: Volunteer Survey
Communicator: Your child will be coming home Monday-Thursday with a communicator (planner). The communicator is where your child will write down their homework assignments, tests, due dates, and reminders. Each day, please read the communicator together with your child, check off assignments completed, then sign the communicator.
Back to School Night: Wednesday, September 3rd will be our Back-to-School Night. It will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the MPR. Please save the date for this important evening.
Chromebooks: Students will begin working with their Chromebooks this week. I will provide one pair of headphones for each child. If your child would prefer, they may bring their own headphones to keep in the classroom.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: This week, students will begin working in their Learn and Apply Books. Students must travel with their Apply Book to and from school each day. Books must stay in good working condition. This week, students will connect their understanding of equal groups and repeated addition to multiplication.
Reader's Workshop: This week we will review ELA concepts learned in 2nd grade. Students will begin to practice 3rd grade skills such as reading to self, listening to someone else read, reading with a partner and using technology to practice reading.
Writer's Workshop: This week, students will learn about the 3rd grade writing process. They will be writing about themselves and why they are excited for 3rd grade. Students begin with a rough draft, go through an editing process, and end with a final draft.
Social Studies: This week, students will begin Week 1: Continuity and Change in our Studies Weekly curriculum. This week we will learn about the inquiry process and how we use it to study history.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday for P.E. every week. Make sure your child is wearing shoes and clothing that they can be active in! Please remember to pack a water bottle.
