September 23- 27
Hello B1 Families,
PTA
Dance-a-Thon: Please sign and return the permission slip for our Dance-a-thon fundraiser! These are due Friday, September 27th.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
3rd Grade Expectations: Please continue to reinforce 3rd grade behavior and academic expectations at home. We are teaching our 3rd graders how to strive for academic excellence, keep a growth mindset, take accountability for their words and actions and model respect towards our teachers and peers. Reinforcing these expectations at home will help our class have a successful and fun year at school.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: This week, students will continue to work with equal groups, multiplication and division. They will use arrays and tape diagrams to represent problems. Students will explore the relationship between multiplication and division through the Read, Draw, Write process.
Reader's Workshop: We will finish our Benchmark Unit 1: Government for the People. Our focus will be answering the essential question: Why do people participate in government?
Students will also continue using skills to find the main idea and key details, answer text dependent questions and edit 3rd grade conventions.
Writer's Workshop: This week students will continue to focus on writing a well-constructed, 5 sentence paragraph. Students will be writing complete sentences using correct capitalization, spelling and punctuation. They will learn how to write a topic sentence, supporting details and a concluding wrap-up sentence.
Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 6 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. This week we will learn about the themes of geography.
Science: We will continue working in our first unit of study for Science, which is Balancing Forces.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E/Dance class every week.
