OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: This week, students will continue working in module 3. Throughout this module, students will apply multiplication and division concepts, representations, and strategies from module 1. They use the commutative, distributive, and associative properties to help them multiply and divide. Students advance their representations to more abstract arrays and tape diagrams and begin to use a letter to represent an unknown quantity. Students will be doing lessons 7-10 this week. As a reminder, we will have our multiplication test on Friday. Please continue practicing multiplication for at least 10 minutes daily.
Reader's Workshop: Students will be working on unit 4 week 2 in our Comparing Points of View book. Our focus will be answering the essential question: What makes people view the same experience in different ways? Students will also be learning about reindeer this week! They will read a book about reindeer and then write about what they learned using text evidence. They will focus on reindeer habitats, diet and adaptations.
Writer's Workshop: This week we will write a Winter acrostic poem.
Science: Students will be learning more about trait variation. Students will continue to utilize our Handbook of Traits book to identify how traits vary among different species. This week students will be observing different wolves.
Social Studies: We will continue with Week 21 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. Lesson 21 will teach students about using charts, reading maps, and understanding data. This lesson will discuss the population and how some areas are more populated than others.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday for P.E. every week.
