October 21-25
Hello B1 Families,
It was so nice meeting with you all last week. I appreciate you all taking the time out of your busy schedules to sit down and chat about your child's progress. If you have any questions since our conference please feel free to email me at aharmon@pleasantvalleysd.org
We will be having a Halloween celebration on Thursday, October 31st. I have a sign-up genius for those of you that would like to donate items to our celebration. You can find the link here- Halloween Celebration Donation Sign-up
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: We will begin Module 2, which focuses on measurement. Students will be estimating and measuring mass in grams, kilograms, liters and milliliters. They will relate this concept to that of place value by using a number line and unit comparisons.
Reader's Workshop: We will be starting a new benchmark book called Animal Adaptations. Our focus will be answering the essential question: How do living things adapt to change?
Writer's Workshop: This week students will begin writing a narrative about a spooky house. They will focus on descriptive language and the use of adjectives to add spice to their writing.
Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 9 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. Week 9 teaches students about natural features and landforms in California!
Science: We will continue working in our first unit of study for Science, which is Balancing Forces.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E/dance class every week.
