Hello B1 Families,
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Permission Slips: On Monday, students came home with a permission slip for our field trip to the Camarillo House. Please fill this out and return to school by Friday, January 31st. An email will be sent out this week with information about chaperones.
President Reports: On Monday, students came home with a choice sheet for our upcoming President Research Report project. Please help your child fill this out and return to school on Friday, January 31st.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: Please make sure your child is practicing multiplication facts for at least 10 minutes a night. Students are working towards mastering their x0-x6 (or higher) multiplication tables by the end of January. We will be finishing our Module 3 books this week. A study guide will come home on Thursday and our test will be on Friday.
Reader's Workshop: Students will be starting new Benchmark books this week. This book focuses on advancements in technology with the essential question: What is the value of innovation?
Writer's Workshop: Students will be writing an informational paragraph about Alexander Graham Bell. They will continue to use text evidence in their writing as we are learning to cite sources. At the end of the week, they will write a narrative paragraph. Students will imagine they are an inventor in charge of creating a new phone app. They will share how their app works and why it would be helpful to people.
P.E.: Due to the rain, PE has been rescheduled to Wednesday this week. Please dress appropriately on Wednesday and Thursday for P.E/dance every week.
Social Studies: Students will be learning about how communities have changed over time in Week 22 of Studies Weekly.
