OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: This week, we will finish working in Module 2, which focuses on measurement. Students will be working on lesson 12 on Monday. On Tuesday, students will work on a study guide on lessons 8-12 in class which they should review for homework. Then on Wednesday, students will be taking an assessment on lessons 8-12. On Thursday we will begin Module 3. Throughout this module, students will apply multiplication and division concepts, representations, and strategies from module 1. They use the commutative, distributive, and associative properties to help them multiply and divide. Students advance their representations to more abstract arrays and tape diagrams and begin to use a letter to represent an unknown quantity. Students will be going home with their Module 2 Apply and Learn books. Please keep these Module 2 books at home. The Module 2 books do not need to return to class.
Reader's Workshop: Students will continue to participate in Reader's Workshop and work in their Benchmark books. This will be our last week in our Animal Adaptations books. We will continue reading The Wild Robot together as a class.
Writer's Workshop: This week students will begin a poem about Fall and November. They will focus on descriptive language and the use of adjectives to add spice to their writing.
Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 34 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. Week 34 teaches students about local government.
Science: Students continue to observe the traits of closely related organisms: four species of bears. Students analyze data about the traits of a particular bear, comparing the bear's traits with the traits of other bears.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E/Dance Class every week.
