Get Ready to Dance It Up 90s Style!
The Dance-a-Thon is just around the corner, and this year we’re dancing it up 90s style for our school’s 30th anniversary! This is our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year, and our goal is to raise $45k to support awesome enrichment opportunities for our Hawks, including fitness enrichment, art in the classroom, field trips, assemblies, classroom materials, and so much more!

Minimum Day: Students have a minimum day this Wednesday, September 18th. Dismissal is at noon.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: Students will get their 2nd math test back on Tuesday. Any questions marked incorrect need to be re-done on a separate sheet of paper. Please review, sign, and return math assessments by Thursday.
This week, students will use the properties of multiplication to explore strategies they can use to multiply efficiently. They will explore the commutative and distributive properties of multiplication.
Reader's Workshop: Students will get their first Benchmark Unit 1 Week 1 test back this week. We will go over this test in class, no corrections at home are required. Please sign and return reading assessments by Friday. We will continue our Benchmark curriculum Unit 1: Government for the People. Our focus will be answering the essential question: Why do people participate in government? We will continue learning to annotate text and focus on skills such as finding the main idea, answering text-dependent questions, sequencing, and comparing/contrasting story elements.
Writer's Workshop: This week students will learn how to write a well-constructed, 5 sentence paragraph. Students will be writing complete sentences using correct capitalization, spelling and punctuation. They will learn how to write a topic sentence, supporting details and a concluding wrap-up sentence.
Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 4 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. This week we will learn about taking action and making a difference.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E/Dance class every week.
