Week 3
September 3-6
September 3-6
Hello B1 Families,
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Weekly Folder: Your child will come home every Monday (or first instructional day of the week) with a GREEN weekly folder. Please empty this folder weekly. This is where any flyers, completed schoolwork or artwork will come home. This folder will include dated pages with information about any missing assignments or behaviors we are working on at school. A parent/grown-up signature is required. Students will return the folder the next school day, unless absent. Green folders are going home today. I look forward to seeing all signed Green Weekly Folders returned TOMORROW: Wednesday, September 4th.
Daily 20 Reading Folder: Students will take home their ORANGE reading folder today. Your child will come home every Monday (or first instructional day of the week) with this folder. They must bring it back to school on Friday complete. Your child should be reading a "just-right" book for 20 minutes each night. Please see the packet handed out on Back-to-School Night to help your child find an appropriate book using the 5 finger method. I encourage you to ask your child comprehension questions after they have read each night. A list of helpful questions can be found in your Back to School Night packet. I look forward to seeing completed Orange Reading Folders returned Friday, September 6th.
Communicator: Each day, please check the homework assigned to your child. Once they have completed their assignments, please sign the communicator.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: On Wednesday, students will have their first math quiz. This quiz will cover lessons 2-5. I will review these lessons in class on Tuesday. Your child will come home on Tuesday night with a completed study guide. Please assist them with reviewing the problems, studying is their homework. This may look something like asking problems verbally, writing similar problems down on a new paper, or covering up the answers and redoing the problem. The assessment given will be very similar to the study guide.
Reader's Workshop: We will finish our Hundred Dresses book study this week. After completing the book, students will participate in a culminating activity that reinforces the important lesson that our words have an impact and we should always choose kindness.
Writer's Workshop: This week, students will be finishing their rough draft and moving on to their final draft of I'm Excited for Third Grade. Students are working on neat printing and coloring, correct spelling, and conventions.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Thursday for P.E. We will have our second dance class this week! Please bring a water bottle.
Music: We will have our first music lesson this Friday!
