Course Outline (S5 & S6 pupils)

 

Film and Television production in Scotland is booming with production spend figures rising to their highest ever levels - now is the perfect time to consider a career in this thriving industry.  

This course will take you through the entire process of design, construction and siting of a set, which will then be used in a student film project.  

Working collaboratively to a given brief, you’ll learn how to interpret and produce scale plans, before building a scale model of the set.   

Moving to the construction department you’ll develop knowledge in materials, techniques, and use of tools whilst your team creates the finished set and erects it within our state-of-the-art television studios.   

This course will be enhanced with visits from industry professionals and opportunities to visit television studios and production facilities.

Entry Requirements


This course would suit artistic, creative and collaborative students with National 5 Qualifications including English and Art & Design.  

This course requires a high level of commitment from students with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in design, film or television. 


Progression 

By the end of this course, you will have developed an understanding of the design and construction process and could progress into courses across the design department including Model Making for TV & Film and Product Design.   Alternatively, you could progress onto courses within the Creative Industries faculty including Television, Radio and Media.
