NPA Engineering SCQF Level 5  (In partnership with BAE Systems)

Course Outline S5 & S6 pupils only

This Pre-Apprenticeship course in Fabrication & Welding will provide participants with the opportunity to engage directly with BAE Systems throughout the programme. There will be a particular focus on the BAE Systems Naval Ships business at the Scotstoun and Govan yards including the various Modern Apprenticeship opportunities available.

Entry Level

• Pupils must be in S5 or S6 in August 2024 

• Pupils should have a keen interest in Fabrication & Welding 

• Pupils must have achieved National 4 Maths and able to achieve Maths Craft 1 during this course

• Mandatory Units:

• Mathematics: Craft 1

• Understanding Industry

• Engineering Work-based Challenge

• Optional Units:

• Metal Inert Gas/Metal Active Gas Welding Skills

• Fabrication Processes

• Ship Construction Skills

• Engineering Project

• Health & amp; Safety: Engineering

Progression

• On successful completion, pupils will have the opportunity to apply to the BAE Systems Naval Ships Modern Apprenticeship

        programmes.
