This assignment is an example of a multiple choice quiz we were tasked with completing for our AP English Literature and Composition Class. This multiple choice quiz was given to us based on the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est, by Wilfred Owen. We were tasked with analyzing and answering the eight questions attached. Each question directed the reader to think and analyze the true meaning behind the poem. The true meaning of the poem was to provide a non-romanticized depiction of war and humanize soldiers. To expose the true reality of the horrors of war and go against the age-old pattern of idealistic youth being drawn into war. In this quiz, I found myself struggling with answering questions with full certainty. In specific, to the questions that asked about the literacy technique being used in the referred line. In addition to questions that asked about the meaning and reasoning for using certain words. Through reflection, I have been able to understand that the reason I was struggling was because I did not fully understand the meaning of the poem. For the question which asked about the literacy technique being used, I was unable to recall the definitions for each of the terms. Additionally, the question which asked about why certain words were used, I found myself getting the first part of each question correct but not the second part. This is because I did not consider other possible meanings of the poem and stuck to a certain believe. For this reason, I have chosen this assignment as a glow assignment. One I can look back on and learn how to be more open minded to other possible meanings of the story. Lastly, through this assignment, my understanding of literacy techniques became apparent and has shown me that I need extra practice in understanding them. 

This assignment is an example of an essay we were tasked with completing for our AP English Literature and Composition Class. This essay was given to us based on the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est, by Wilfred Owen. This essay was the second part of the test along with the multiple choice. In this essay, we were tasked with analyzing how Owen uses imagery to convey the speakers feelings about War. I was successful in writing two pages on how the author utilized imagery to portray his own opinions and thoughts on War. Through reflection, I understand the reason I was successful in this assignment was because I gathered a lot of evidence and introduced background knowledge. At the very beginning of the essay, I directly stated the authors background and its influence on the overall meaning of the poem. In addition to this, I utilized specific lines from the poem which greatly impacted the flow of the poem. The author repeatedly uses imagery and other literacy techniques to really emphasize on the horrors of war and the delusions that has been implanted into the youth. Overall, I was able to fully display my understanding of the poem and how the author portrays it through literacy techniques. For this reason I have chosen this assignment as a glow assignment. One I can look back on and utilize the same techniques for future essays. Utilizing the evidence provided and referring to background knowledge on the topic. In addition to properly creating a structure and format for where certain topics will be talked upon. Creating a flow between the information and evidence. To conclude, this essay is one of my top scoring essays throughout the year, which I am extremely proud of.
