This assignment is an example of an argumentative essay we were tasked to complete for our AP English Literature and Composition class. This argumentative essay was about the book we just finished reading, Sing Unburied Sing. We were to pick out of the 6 options we were given and speak about that topic/theme. Each option had a different theme to speak about. I choose the first topic, "In a well-written essay, analyze the role masculinity plays in Jojo’s development, and an underlying theme that emerges from that portrayal." I choose this topic specifically because I felt I could speak more on this theme compared to the other 5 topics. We were given a full class period of taking notes before taking the timed essay the next class. I was successful in this essay because I was able to gather multiple evidence and scenes where masculinity is portrayed. I then choose the best evidence from the pile and highlighted them to be used for the essay next class. I also began writing a theme which I could use for the essay. Preparation and proper time management allowed me to succeed in getting a near perfect score on this essay. In addition, other than almost getting a near perfect score, I was able to gather an even deeper understanding of masculinity inside of the book. For this reason, I have chosen this assignment as a glow assignment. One I can look on and learn from for future essays.
This assignment is an example of a quiz which we were tasked to complete for our AP English Literature and Composition Class. This quiz was given to us in test our understanding of the vocabulary words which we would begin to be implemented and talked about in the next couple lessons. I have chosen this assignment specifically as one to be looked at as a grow assignment. I was not able to get a perfect score as I confused the definitions of Alliteration and Conceit. After looking back on the prepartion tht was taken before this quiz, it was clear why I was not able to get a perfect score. Before this quiz, I did not spend too much time understanding each word or even picking out the main points of the definition. For the reason of not properly taking the time to study, I found myself struggling to match the definition to the words. It took much longer to complete this quiz compared to other quizzes in the past. Overall, I must learn to create a schedule for when certain assignments are due or the days of quizzes/test. In doing this, I will be able to give myself sufficient time to study.
