This assignment was an essay where we choose to support, qualify, or go against 1619 being America's origin story. In this assignment, I chose to qualify the argument that 1619 is America's origin. I argued that the year 1776 is also an important year because it was the year we were declared independent from British rule. I chose this assignment because I put a good amount of effort and research into this assignment. I am proud of the argument  I chose to support, 1776 is America's origin and 1619 is the year which represents the foundation of America's laws and constitutions. 

This assignment required us to create a major claim and three minor claims on the chapter of Capitalism. The chapter Capitalism in the 1619 project talked about the unjust economic and political system in the United States. It talks about how slavery was used to promote capitalism to gain more profit and goods. In a capitalist society, private business thrives and there is a major gap between the rich and poor. An example was how the rich did not have to pay any international tax compared to the poor who had to pay large amounts of tax. The 1619 project dived down on how capitalism is still in effect today and needs to fixed. I chose this assignment because I believe I did very well on this assignment. In this assignment, I was able to compare real life events to the book's claims. I also found Capitalism to be one of my favorite chapters to read in the book.
