Character Guides
Maybe the most important part of playing at SA is your character. Character Guides (CGs) are the ones who help you make one!
Responsibilities
CGs are responsible for the following tasks:
Reviewing and approving characters.
Helping players create realistic characters who will fit the game.
Communicating to Check-In when a character has been approved for play.
Orienting players as to the nature of the game and its lore.
In addition to these duties, CGs are sure to refrain from sharing private character information with other players. Character Creation Policies define the CG's responsibility, the player's responsibility, and how best to work with the CGs.
Character Guide 2022 Deadline Dates
To play at June game...
Tier-restricted submissions must be in by June 8
All other character submissions must be in by June 13
All characters must be approved by June 16
Character Guides Policies
The internal policies of the CGs are as follows:
CGs are expected to be above reproach in questions of meta-gaming. CGs found to have broken the meta-gaming rule will be immediately dismissed from the CG team.
Character options will be limited to those appropriate to Shadow Accord and its setting. When accounting for inclusion and level of restriction, CGs will consider, among other factors, distance of origin, rarity, and secrecy of subfactions, along with compatibility with the related faction’s general theme.
CGs will not make character decisions for players. The function of a CG is to help familiarize the player with the game world, then review and give feedback on what the player has already made.
CGs will respect a player's wishes regarding how much background information they wish to divulge. The player has a right to not share all of their character information with a CG; if they choose to not share information with the CGs, the player takes full responsibility for ensuring their character is in accordance with CG policy and the Shadow Accord setting.
CGs have a right to refuse any character concept they see as disruptive to the game.
If a player believes they were treated unfairly, they have a right to appeal to the Head of CGs, whose decision is final, by forwarding the latest email to the Head.
Regular Character Creation Deadline
The deadline to submit a new character to the CGs is the Friday before game (that is, Friday at 11:59pm one week before the Friday of event). Both returning and new players must email CGs by this time in order to submit a new character for Character Creation.
All character approval deadlines are the Monday before game.
If your character cannot be approved by the Monday before game, a CG may decide to finish your approval process onsite. For returning players, this is done on a case by case basis, and is not guaranteed. For new players, the onsite CG process is always available.
Late Check-In
Players arriving after check-in hours with a new character must have that character approved prior to game. It is the player’s responsibility to submit early enough and to inform CGs and Check-In of their late arrival.
