While immersion is important to our game, it is more importance to make certain that the players of our game are able to have their needs met for medical purposes. Members of the community seeking accommodations for players suffering from illness or duress will be able to safely sleep outside of game. In the instance a player has a need to sleep out of game, but their bed is an in -ame space, they will be able to sleep OOG for their needs.
This is an honor system accommodation, and we ask that players not abuse this accommodation. This policy gives trust to the adults who play this game and who are responsible for their own well being.
The policy states that, while a great deal of the tension and immersion in game is vulnerability while players sleep, there are situations wherein a player is unable to do so such as with certain medical needs. In such a case, players may remove themselves from game by either wearing an orange headband or visibly tying off an out of game orange ribbon to their bed while they're sleeping/resting. There are also other areas removed from game space that are often available and, if possible, are ideal arrangements.
As to be fair to those with establishments in game, any payment or arrangement for the in-game bed space is still the responsibility of the player.
Furthermore, a player returning from sleeping out of game with this accommodation may not enter play in the middle of a scene happening in their immediate vicinity. The player must leave the area to find a location sufficiently removed from the scene and where no other roleplay is taking place before returning to play.
This allows players who have such needs to have reasonable access to the accommodations while we have this distinct lack of sufficient out of character space. This also gives players an option to stay in a heated building, possibly near the outlets necessary for some medical needs (such as c-pap).
In the event that sufficient OOG space becomes available, we encourage people with such needs to sleep there as to avoid disruption of their sleep and also aid in keeping most in-game spaces immersive. However, player safety is a far higher priority to that.
