NKY Health considers our employees to be our most valuable resource, and at the same time, is committed to providing quality health care services to the public that it serves. This guide is intended to provide employees with a general understanding of NKY Health’s personnel policies. Employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the contents of this guide, as it will answer many common questions concerning employment with NKY Health.

The following are conditions precedent to the policies and provisions stated in this guide:

  1. This guide cannot anticipate every situation or answer every question about employment. It is not an employment contract and is not intended to create contractual obligations of any kind. Neither the employee nor NKY Health is bound to continue the employment relationship if either chooses, at its will, to end the relationship at any time.

  2. Neither these policies, nor any other NKY Health document, confers any contractual right, either express or implied, to remain employed by NKY Health. Nor do they guarantee any fixed terms and conditions of employment. Employment is not for any specific time. No individual other than the District Director of Health and/or her/his designee has the authority to enter into any agreement for employment for any specified period of time, or to make any agreement contrary to the above.

  3. No employee guide can anticipate every circumstance or question about policies and procedures. In order to retain necessary flexibility in the administration of policies and procedures, NKY Health’s management reserves the right to change, revise, supplement or eliminate any of the policies and/or benefits described in this guide. Changes from the stated policies can only be authorized and approved by the District Director of Health and/or the District Board of Health. NKY Health will inform employees of any substantive changes as they occur; however, failure to notify employees of any change will not affect the validity of the change or the application of a changed policy or benefit to a particular situation.

  4. Some of the subjects mentioned in these policies are described in greater detail in other official NKY Health documents. Terms of the other documents, such as written benefit plans, are the controlling documents.
