Purpose of Policy

The purpose of this policy is to codify a longstanding practice at NKY Health which:

Procedures for Annual Required Training / Acknowledgements

Scheduling Time to Complete the Training / Acknowledgements

The training and acknowledgements are made available annually during the months when NKY Health is most likely to experience unforeseen closures due to inclement weather.  This allows staff who have appropriate technology and advance permission from their NKY Health supervisor to work from home.

When the deadline approaches and NKY Health has not closed, supervisors may work with staff to schedule administrative time to complete the training/acknowledgements.

Supplemental Staff and Part-Time NKY Health Employees: Checklist for Completing the Training/Acknowledgements

Please download the following checklist, print it, then initial and date each item as you complete it.

You can find most of the items on the Orientation Site.  Follow the instructions on the checklist when they are different from the instructions on the site. Your supervisor will make arrangements for you to view the Workplace Violence video.

Supplemental Staff, when you are all finished, give the checklist to your NKY Health supervisor/coordinator.

Part-Time NKY Health Employees, when you are all finished, have your supervisor sign both pages then scan them into a single .PDF file and email the file to your supervisor and to hr@nkyhealth.org with the subject line "Annual Required Training Checklist."  Be sure to save a copy so you can update your transcript in MyPURPOSE as soon as "Frankfort" gives you access.

Full-Time NKY Health Employees: Items to Complete in MyPURPOSE and TRAIN

Complete your training in MyPURPOSE and TRAIN.  The following list is to help you keep track of the items you need to complete but the materials should be on your transcript in MyPURPOSE.   (Exception: The modules that you complete in TRAIN will not appear on your transcript.)  Look for "NKY Health YYYY-YYYY Annual Compliance Training and Update" on your active transcript.

The list is for your use only. You do NOT need to print it and send it in.

Questions and Answers

Are you sure this is going to work?

NOPE!  But it has been tested and re-tested multiple times.  It appears to be just fine.

However, as with anything new, we may need to be patient as all the "unforeseen events" come to light and are addressed.  Please don't wait until the last minute in case you experience technical difficulties.

Can MyPURPOSE modules be shared?

You should never share your login or passwords with anyone else.

However, you can log in to MyPURPOSE and launch a module for others to view.  Feel free to project it to a larger monitor to share in a group setting or to invite someone to sit at your desk and complete it .

Remember that once it's completed it becomes part of YOUR transcript. (But you should be able to re-launch it multiple times.)

Can I work on this from home?

With your supervisor's advance permission you can work on this remotely provided you have the technology.  (We're sorry but NKY Health cannot provide support for your personal technology devices.)

Can I use this for CEU's?

Check with your credentialing agency accepts it.  If they do, then you can use it for CEU's.  MyPURPOSE even allows you to print certificates of completion for some materials.

Do I get paid for this?

Do I have to do it again if it overlaps with orientation?

Supplemental Staff and Part-Time NKY Health Employees must complete both the orientation checklist and the annual training / acknowledgements checklist.  You do not necessarily have to view each item twice, but you do have to initial and date both checklists.  The dates for the annual training / acknowledgements must be between December 1 and February 28.

How do I access the Anti-Workplace Violence Video?

Your supervisor will need to make arrangements for you to view this video.

How do I find the training in MyPURPOSE?

How long will all this take?

That depends on how thorough you are.  We encourage you to pay attention to the content but it is possible to complete all the training/acknowledgements in as little as four (4) hours if you are supplemental staff and six (6) hours if you are an NKY Health employee.

What if I can't log in to MyPURPOSE or I need help with MyPURPOSE?

Refer to the MyPURPOSE page of this site.

If you need additional assistance, talk to your supervisor who will reach out to Human Resources if they cannot help you.

What if I can't log in to TRAIN or I need help with TRAIN?

See the TRAIN page of this site.  If you need additional assistance, talk to your supervisor who will reach out to Human Resources if they cannot help you.

What if I finish all this and then NKY Health is closed due to inclement weather?

Your supervisor may have additional training you can complete remotely.  Otherwise, NKY Health's Unforeseen Closures policy applies.

What if I'm sick or on vacation?

Please plan ahead because you still have to finish it between the timeframe specified.

Why can't we all complete the training in MyPURPOSE?

Access to MyPURPOSE is via the Kentucky Human Resources Information System (KHRIS).  Currently, quasi agencies such as NKY Health are only permitted to set up employees who are eligible for group health insurance in KHRIS.

"Frankfort" is working to change this but it requires an extensive technology update in order to prevent part-time employees from being automatically assigned an insurance plan and charged for the monthly premium.  The update is scheduled to be completed "any day now" but was first delayed by a new governor taking office, then by the onset of COVID, and now by staffing issues.

Eventually part-time NKY Health employees should have access to MyPURPOSE but supplemental staff will likely never have access.
