Every NKY Health employee has the status of employee-at-will, meaning that no one has a contractual right, express or implied, to remain in NKY Health’s employ. NKY Health may terminate employment or an employee may terminate her/his own employment without cause, and with or without notice, at any time and for any legitimate, business reason. An employee who has a separate written contract of employment with NKY Health is subject to the terms and conditions stated in her/his contract.

Not every employment situation can be predicted or foreseen. Consequently, these personnel policies are guidelines meant to provide to the employee the general expectations of the employer. These policies do not create any contractual right, obligation, or commitment on the part of the employer, and they do not alter the employee’s status as an at-will employee.

No supervisor or other representative of NKY Health except the District Director of Health and/or her/his designee may supersede or amend this at-will status. Furthermore no at-will status can be superseded or amended orally, or by implication, and without a written, fully executed, employment contract entered into by NKY Health and the employee.
