Unit:
Learning Goals: Student will learn how to sort out figures using different attributes.
Classwork: Sorting out figures using manipulatives (hands on). For the online students- With the help of your parents you can cut out different figures draw a big venn diagram and choose 2 attributes for each loop, and then sort out the figures accordingly.
Homework: Homework-choose 2 attributes and make a venn diagram with 8 different shapes and try to sort them out according to your chosen attributes.

Early settler restaurant
Students will imagine that they are the cooks in an Inn (Hotel which provides a restaurant ), they will create a menu travellers could look at to order food.. Students will choose foods that they could serve for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Students must remember that the food they offer must be food that is available at that time, and cooked in the same way as that time. They will create the physical menu. Students will divide the menu into 3 parts for each meal. The top should say the name of the INN, then provide the name of the food and a picture and the cost.
Reading/Oral:Students will be asked to find two recipes of food that they never tried. One has to be one that they predict they will not like and the other recipe they will predict they will like. They have to say why they like it or don't like it just by looking at the ingredients.
Reading: Reading fairy tales and providing predictions on what will happen just by looking at the title and cover. They will be sharing their reading out loud to the students.

Students will be doing an in class assignment.
Homework: Students will choose one city (Windsor, Kingston, peawanuk, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Moosonee, , Moose Factory,Markham, Barrie) and will search to find out the following information: Name of city, Where is it located in Ontario (Canadian Sheild, Hudsons Bay Low lands, Great Lakes St. Lawrencxe Lowlands), Population, landform features, climate, resources, jobs, land use in farming or manufacturing) Due in two weeks.
