Artist Statement:

I used IbispaintX to make a drawing of Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter battling each other. I took a picture of my school’s running track for the background, and I used images from Safari and placed it in IbistpaintX. Then, I outlined it, and painted it with the bucket tool and used many different types of painting instruments of different density. I just thought of Street Fighter because I played the game a day before. I had trouble finding the pictures of them facing each other, but my art teacher helped me to flip the picture around.

Asher, like most boys his age, has a fascination for designs and characters related to games and comics. In this instance, Asher was able to combine his interest with some intricate photography and digital art skills to make the mini-scene come alive. - Mr Wong

His main source of inspiration comes from his everyday life and he haves fun turning ordinary objects and scenes into "intriguing images".

Finding Pictures

Finding Pictures is an animation studio based in Singapore.

You would remember them as the one who creatively produced the music video for Singapore's 2021 NDP theme song, "The Road Ahead".

The beautiful blend between real life images and digital illustration are intended to serve as a reminder to Singaporeans that “there is strength to be found in unity” and that “as long as we stand together, we shall overcome the odds”.

Create your own hidden story using photography.

You can choose to...

Take a photograph using a camera, mobile phone, or a tablet of something ordinary in your surroundings.

Import the image onto a digital drawing application, and draw your own illustrated characters on top of the image!

Look through the magazines or newspapers that you have at home. Choose an image where you can imagine a story or a scene happening. Use your drawing materials (pens, coloured markers, paint, etc) to add the characters and details.
