Artist Statement:

What is a Singaporean Dream? I've thought about that many times especially coming from a family that holds especially high expectations from me. We all have dreams and in today's society, where choices are made available, making right decisions brings forth much anxiety. The Dream catcher in my work is used as a metaphor to represent my best friend. Some may say it is a Superstitious belief to depend on a Dream catcher. I personally hope that it brings me to the right path to make the right decisions. This world that is being portrayed in my artwork captures the realities of my passion as well as the expectations I have as a growing teenager. If Dream catchers could catch dreams, what dreams would you chase?

Dahlia is a student artist who is always excited about the potentialities of her future. She loves to dream about numerous things she can do and achieve if given the opportunity and time. She tries to balance that with expectations from those around her. Dahlia is a passionate art student who loves to use vivid colours and illustrative portrayals in her work.
