Year 11 Update

Mock Examinations

As our first round of mock examinations for the core subjects draws to a close, I would like to congratulate Year 11 on their conduct and effort in these exams. The majority of Year 11 behaviour has been excellent throughout; we have had lots of positive feedback from the invigilators. Thank you to all parents and carers for your support through this first round of mock examinations. Please make sure that your sons and daughters recharge their batteries over the Christmas break and ready themselves for plenty of hard work and preparation for the next round of mock examinations starting January 10th, and also the BTEC Examinations starting in February. Students’ revision over the Christmas Break should shift towards those subjects, which will be tested in January.

I’m sure there will be lots of success stories and we look forward to celebrating these results with Year 11. In the weeks ahead, all students must listen carefully to feedback from subject teachers and act on this advice from staff. When the Year 11 students start to go through exam papers in class they must be focused on their gap analysis and annotating and redrafting answers to demonstrate progress and a more sophisticated understanding.

We will not just be celebrating the students who have achieved high grades. We will also be looking to highlight and celebrate students who have responded positively to staff feedback, regardless of their mock grade.
