Remembrance Day

The Leigh Academy has a long tradition of hosting a moving service to mark Remembrance Day and this year was no exception. The whole Academy came to a standstill and fell silent at 11:00am on Thursday 11th November to remember those lost in conflicts in the World Wars and other conflicts around the world. As always, students showed tremendous levels of respect for those who had fallen and were a great credit to the Academy.

Although Covid restrictions meant that we were unable to observe the occasion in our traditional method of grouping round the Wintergardens and on the plazas, each tutor group tuned into YouTube for a live premiere of the Remembrance Day Service.

We were also privileged to welcome Ted Needham (D-Day veteran) and his wife as well as Harry Chapman and Chris Ridgewell from the Royal British Legion to help commemorate the occasion in the Lecture Theatre with the Year 12 and 13 students and staff.
