Culture Day

Culture Day at the Leigh Academy

The Leigh Academy is proud to be an International Baccalaureate school with students and staff that form a broad and inclusive community. We emphasise and celebrate our commonalities and differences every year on Culture Day, which has been growing in popularity and prominence over the last few years. Culturally diverse and multicultural nations are characterised by a society or group that is made up of many different people. This includes people from different countries, races and religious backgrounds.

The official date for Culture Day falls in the middle of exams, so we decided to celebrate early and incorporate the birth and death of William Shakespeare, which happens to fall on St George's day.

This fits in really well with the general spirit of the Leigh Academy. We regularly respect observance days and months, and learn about the history and significance of other groups. This day felt like a joyous coming together.
