MYP Project updates

This term Year 7 have been exploring different projects; some making mixed media storybags, some making bird houses and some a range of seasonal community food. They have shown great determination and demonstrated a range of the IB learner profiles in their studies. These activities have been the start of them building their subject knowledge and workshop confidence.

Year 8 have been building upon what they learnt last year with a range of more complex skills that are readying them for their future GCSE options. They have been manufacturing gravity racers, steadyhand games and learning the importance of cooking for others dietry requirements.

Year 9 have had to become independent learners and demonstrate in-depth problem solving skills with the new projects of a mechanical grabber and abstract nightlight. This has really challenged them as they have had to draw on all prior learning and take risks to be successful.

Year 9 pathway Design Technology

For the first time we have a Year 9 pathway DT , whereby students have been able to choose DT as a second subject from their core learning. This proved to be very popular and was heavily oversubscribed. In these lessons, students are taught more complex projects and are expected to work with skill and finesse. This term they have been creating 3D puzzles.

Year 10 Design Technolgy

The Year 10s have enjoyed experimenting with a range of materials to refine their skills, to accurately manufacture tealight holders. They have had to apply their knowledge of jigs, templates and stencils to ensure accurate manufacture.
